Drumroll Please.... Blog Candy WINNER!!!

Okay, so it's not 5 o'clock... but here is our lucky winner, chosen by random.org...

Heather.. Congrats!!!

I'll send you an email with the info to get you all set up to access all the great tutorials for August at Craft Project Central. Enjoy :)

-----------------------

As for me, I have a VERY busy week coming up, and may not have time to do any crafting, so forgive me if my blog is a little quiet. There will be the rest of the CPC projects, as well as my little dude's birthday card, and possibly (if I'm not stretched too thin) a few handmade decorations for his party... but I may have to resort to buying everything... only problem is, they don't make LarryBoy party supplies, so it'll all be pretty plain and generic. At least I know how I'm doing the cake, and I can do a VERY basic banner with a LarryBoy printout. I just had much bigger plans in my head *sigh*

Okay, that's enough useless rambling from me... enjoy your week, even if we don't see each other here ;)

Saturday Sketch Challenge 217

This week Stamping 411 has TWO sketches to play with, and plan to do both... this is the first one...

And the sketch...

Creating Pretty Cards #2

I decided to take another stab at the challenge at Craft Project Central, this time using the Tropical Party paper I've been hoarding for a year now, and the matching stamps I finally got, even though they're retired... I'll be so sad when I run out of this paper pack!

And here's the sketch again...

August Workshop Card #2 - CPS 231

Well, I did it! I finally sat down to make a workshop card, using Island Indigo (my new favorite), Lucky Limeade and Pool Party, and made SURE I came out with something quick and simple enough to reproduce in a class setting (of course I have to premake the baby wipe swiped background, so they'll be dry and usable)... phew! So, here it is...

I used this sketch from Card Positioning Systems...

And now it's time to take a little break from these colors and the Summer Splash set, before I get stuck in a rut ;) Well, I might need to do one more with the surfboards first... hmmm

Card Patterns Sketch 128, colourQ #98 and Hand Stamped Sentiments #80

Can I just start by saying, I am SO in love with this card!! With the fairly simple sketch at Card Patterns, and the colourQ palette, I was thinking I could swap Pool Party for Bermuda Bay, and finally make a sample for my August Workshop. But I really wanted to do something less basic last night, and was in the mood for vintage and blingy. So I added the All Stitched Up! challenge at HandStampedSentiments to my list for this card (even though I ended up with much more simple stitching than what I was planning) and got to work... the bling isn't SU, but everything else is :)

Here are the challenges that inspired me...

I used exactly the colors listed in the color challenge, plus the Tea Stain distressing ink on the Island Indigo embossing, and on the Lucky Limeade piece. The Greenhouse Garden flower and Tiny Tags were stamped with Bermuda Bay and then Island Indigo, the Bliss damask was Soft Suede and the Bliss sentiment was Craft White, with clear embossing powder. All of the layers of cardstock were sanded and worn... I particularly love how sanding looks on the textured cardstock! I also got yet another chance to use the wonderful Island Indigo ruffle ribbon... love that stuff! For the center of the flower, I stuck some green rhinestones on a brad. Click on the picture to see the details better... the small pictures never do it justice ;)

Mojo Monday 204

I was planning on making this my second workshop card for August, to show off the other 3 new In Colors, but it ended up getting too time consuming for an assembly line workshop, so I'll have to come up with something else... but anyways, here it is... If you haven't noticed by now, not only do I LOVE these three colors, but I also LOVE this beachy stamp set! But as of Sept. 1st, it's GONE, so if you think it's as cute and fun as I do, let me know that you want to order it before August 27th ;)

This is the sketch I used at Mojo Monday...

I used Indigo Island, Pool Party and Lucky Limeade for the main colors, the Baby Wipe/Re-inker technique for the water effect on the right, and I used Whisper White craft ink, instead of Versamark, under the Tempting Turquoise embossing powder to give it a lighter, more Pool Party tone.

August Workshop Card #1 - CCMC126, PPA106 and SUO challenge 25

For my August Workshop, I want to show off all the new In Colors... this is a Wisteria Wonder base, and a Calypso Coral flower, along with a bit of Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizzazz. After finishing it, I realized it needs "more", so when we do it in class, the Whisper White circle will be a Scallop Circle, and the Wisteria Wonder will be dry embossed... then I'll be truly happy with it :) Unfortunately, I couldn't redo my sample, or I would be short on supplies for class.

The challenges I used were at Create with Connie and Mary, Pals Paper Arts, and SUO Challenges, which was to use our favorite new stamps... this Precious Butterflies Hostess set is HANDS DOWN my favorite new set that I've gotten (so far) from the new catty... and I LOVE that, thanks to the new and improved Hostess Rewards program, I can get the higher level Hostess Sets like this, that I could never get before :D Book a Home Workshop to get your own amazing free product!

JAI79 - Just Add Tearing/Distressing

Tearing and Distressing were among my first favorite techniques, partly because they could add a lot of texture and interest without all the fancy tools. But as I started to collect all the tools of the trade, I kind of forgot to come back to my tried and true basics.

Fortunately, Just Add Ink has challenged me to do just that! And although I often like to combine a sketch, a color challenge and sometimes a theme challenge like this, I really wanted to use the Seasons of Friendship tree, which is too big for most sketches, and I knew exactly what colors I wanted. So, here it is!

Mojo Monday 202 and Color Throwdown #153

Well, I'm finally done making cards for the sale tomorrow (mainly because I ran out of envelopes, ran into town, got some more and ran out again), so I've moved onto starting to refill my display board with new, fresh stuff. Here's my first one, for the Mojo Monday challenge, (and OH BOY, was it ever challenging!) and the Color Throwdown palette.

And here are my inspirations...

My First Card Sale!

A local papercraft store is having a sidewalk Garage Sale (PaperNation in old Abby for any of my local readers) tomorrow afternoon, to let us crafters sell any of our stash we don't use anymore. Well, since falling in love with Stampin' Up! I find I just don't use most of my old tools, punches, stickers and pre-made embellishments anymore, so I booked a table to unload them and buy myself more SU stuff :)

I thought this would also be a great opportunity to sell my own cards, and a few 3D projects, but since a decent part of his business is selling unique cards, I didn't want to step on his toes, so I asked if it would be alright... he said that's fine, so I cleared off my entire display board, , gathered up my piles of cards AND got to work on more cards too... here's a little sample of a few of my favorites I've thrown together...

Quilled Aster Flowers and Get Well Card

It's amazing what we can create simply by rolling up a little Designer Series Paper. Quilling is a fun technique and these Quilled Aster Flowers are a fun and simple take on rolled paper. They're also a great way to cheer up a sick friend. Paired with the whimsical "get well" card, they'll brighten anyone's day and last a LOT longer than real flowers!
